Custom fields on a property

Your company can add fields beyond the built-in ones: text, numbers, dates, yes/no switches and dropdowns.

Anyone can fill in a custom field's value on a property. No permission is needed for that. Defining which fields exist requires the Manage custom fields permission.

Editing

Custom fields appear on the property's Overview tab and are edited together in one form.

Clearing a field

Clearing a value removes it rather than storing a blank. A field you have never filled in and a field you cleared are the same thing to the app.

This matters in two places. An import set to fill only empty fields will fill a cleared one. A cleared field is absent from data sent to any external service your company has wired up, rather than being sent as empty.

Renamed and archived fields

A field's label can be changed by an admin and the values follow it. The underlying key never changes, so nothing you have entered is lost in a rename.

An archived field disappears from the property page and from import and export, but the values you entered are kept. If an admin brings it back, your data is still there.
