Creating and editing leads

Requires the Manage leads permission. The same permission covers editing and deleting leads, cases and contacts.

Most leads arrive by CSV import. Adding one by hand is for the lead you find on the street.

Required

The address. Street, city, state and postal code.

County

County is picked from a list, not typed. The list covers every county and county equivalent in the country, so you can enter a lead in a state you have never worked before.

County requires a state. Setting a county without a state is refused, because the same county name exists in several states and the pair is what identifies it.

County names appear as they officially are. A trailing "County" is not part of the name, and Virginia's independent cities keep the word "city" in theirs, so "Richmond County" and "Richmond City" stay distinguishable.

Lead source

How the lead reached you. Your company maintains this list under Settings.

Lead status

A new lead is given your company's default status automatically, however it was created. You do not pick one on the form, and you can change it any time afterwards from the property page.

Deleting

Deleting a lead removes its cases, its activity and its notes with it. Linked people survive, since they may be attached to other properties.
